Nathifa Hall's passion for music began at an early age. Studying classical
piano from eight years old, she quickly developed a taste for creating her own
style of music. Through collaborating with other artists, she developed a talent
for songwriting and started writing and producing music for others.
An opportunity to combine her love for drama and music arose when she was
selected by David Farr to compose a piece for his acclaimed play “Crime and
Punishment in Dalston” performed at the Arcola Theatre. The play was later aired
and repeated on BBC Radio Three. Soon after she was commissioned by acclaimed
playwright Lij Sol Ujamaa to compose, arrange
and direct music for his play “The Wife, the Baby Mother and the Woman in the
dark” performed at the Hackney Empire.
Classical training notwithstanding, her music is not limited by genre. Her limit
is human emotion as she seeks to compose music that imitates, complements and
challenges human emotion and the mind.
